Dice rolling has been added to the forums. It seems to work pretty well but it isn't totally impossible to cheat - so only moderators can edit and delete posts in this forum, though I'm guessing the players in here aren't the type who would want to cheat anyway. Full instructions for rolling dice are here: http://www.terrypratchett.uk/gate.html?name=Forums&file=faq&mode=bbcode#11 but basically all dice rolls have to be in dice tags - [dice]d6[/dice] will roll one six sided die in your post, [dice]2d6[/dice] will roll two six sides dice in your post and so on. I hope this is useful. P.S. have a mess around with it in this thread to test.
going to do a couple of tests. want to see how editing a post affects the dice rolls. [dice:d7d5d8f8e2]2d6 = 1999599343 = Fixed[/dice:d7d5d8f8e2] [dice:d7d5d8f8e2]1d20 = 277824442 = Fixed[/dice:d7d5d8f8e2] also testing the preview function while i'm at this. okay, preliminary notes: previewing your post doesn't set the seed, but once the seed is set, the roll will remain even if you edit a post. the only way to get a new die roll within a post is to delete the seed. when you edit a post with a die roll, if the seed is not removed, the edited post will note 'Fixed'.
Just found this, which is rather neat when you don't need to post your results, and don't want to mess up a post for a die roll...
Yes, it's interesting, however, it's not particularly useful for D&D purposes, since it can't roll more than one die at a time, and it lacks the all-important d20.
