Does this belong in this forum? Does it come under: I don't know where it should be... but not here, the avatar/intro, RP forums or monastery forums that's for sure.
That guy who plays Baldrick in Blackadder (Tony Robinson?) might be good at one of the Watch? I'm not very good at these things though I'm afraid. P.S. Or what about Grommit/ or a lookalike for Gaspode.
So your not talking about Geoffery Rush? WHo might make a good Reg Shoe now that I came to think of it... Hugh Laurie is looking promising for me as Vimes, as long as he can House's cynacism with an English accent I'd back him... The location of this thread could possibly in the other stuff thread, but there doesn't to be anything of note here bulking out this thread so it may have to stay to keep the place warm and occupied so it doesn't start digging holes under the fence and chewing the plants...
I suggest this become the 'official casting thread' and as such, stay on topic, be devoid of utter nonsense, and get moved into boardania. Any objections?
New here, but I always thought a piece of perfect casting would be Brian Cox and Steve Buscemi for Colon and Nobby. Colon: Nobby:
Stickying to make this one the official. lemme know if anyone objects. also, Steve Buscemi dies in almost every movie he's in, so i'd be constantly worried they were going to kill off nobby. he could probably do a good job of playing the character though.
Well if Terry doesn't want the gig I suppose they could look around for a lookalike Seriously though the idea made me laugh - but it would only work in a sketch - not an entire movie - someone like Patsy Byrne (Nursey in Blackadder) or Miriam Margolyes would keep the character going for an entire movie....
For Colon and Nobby - I reckon Simon Day (Colon) and Paul Whitehouse (Nobby) would be quite effective in their "Fast Show" type personae and with good make up
hmm... I've just had a thought... How about 'what board member should play ____ in a discworld movie'? hmm? I say we put a red wig on doors and just call him Carrot and be done with it.
Nope, if you listen carefully, you can hear him getting gunned down after he runs out of the warehouse, although I [i:]suppose[/i] its debatable.
eh... that's like trying to argue that Boba Fett might somehow survive the sarlac. they're both dead.
Actually according to the novels he escaped it, then came back and burnt the critter to a crisp with his spaceship.
novels aren't primary cannon, which in many cases is a shame, but i'd still prefer to think you were talking about mr pink
Remember that Nobby has to carry a piece of paper certifying that he is human - even Tony Robinson as Baldrick does not get quite that low - Nobby might have to be computer-generated. Edited to correct typo
the guy who plays snape in harry potter/ marvin in hitchhikers guide - alan rickman for cmot dibbler?
How about this guy with longer hair, a robe and a pointy hat as rincwind? Just try to imagine a look of terror on this guy's face.
I think Tony Robinson as Baldrick would be an ideal Nobby. And maybe John Candy as Archancellor Ridcully.
Steve Buscemi would be a good Nobby, but what about your man who does Iago's voice in Aladdin? Mackenzie Cook is pure Rincewind though. And, yes John Candy has been dead for over ten years. He would've been good for Colon or Ridcully, if he could do the appropriate accent.
I personally see Alan Rickman more as Lord Downey of the Assassins Guild  I would have said David Jason for CMOT Dibbler but he's Albert now. And Colonesque, your avatar screams the Dean or Bursar to me! Ardal O'Hanlon would be great as either of those two!
A glitch in the Matrix (wow that's sooo last century) caused two old thread moved labels to appear in the new non pratchett section for some reason, that's why it's resurfaced I think. P.S. Bill Clinton would be good for someone you least expect...
Hi everybody! New to the board, but what the hell! Ridcully the Brown: Brian Blessed Sam Vimes: Hugh Laurie Lord Vetinari: Jason Isaacs Carrot: Paul Gross Librarian: CGI/Andy Serkis motion capture Colon: Robby Coltraine Rob Anybody: Billy Connoly William the Gonnagle: Sir Sean Connery Rincewind: Simon Pegg Granny Weatherwax: Dame Maggie Smith to be continued
Hi mozphoto, Brain Blessed seems like a popular choice for a lot of people, he's quite a character. You can introduce yourself here if you like: http://www.terrypratchett.uk/fortopic99.html
new to the board and just found this thread my ideal cast list woul be Brian Blessed/John Rhys Davies = ridcully Tony Robinson =nobby Steve Buscemi =CMOT Dibbler Miriam Margoyles = Nanny Ogg Miranda Richardson/Joanna Lumley= Granny Weatherwax Dawn French= Lady Sybil Scarlett Johansen =Angua Richard Griffiths= Fred Colon Alan Rickman/Rowan Atkinson = Vetinari Sam Neill = Vimes
Dawn French as Lady Sybil - that I like - but how can you possibly see the lovely Joanna Lumley as Granny Weatherwax? Stephanie Cole is absolutely perfect for that part! Brian Blessed I agree with, but for both Ridcullys - Mustrum and Hughnon.
Saw joanna lumley as one of the evil aunts in james and the giant peach and she was absolutley fabulous(thats a punne or a play on words ) in the role thats why i thought she could carry granny W. Liz smith who plays nanna in the royle family could also be a good nanny ogg.

That's just so unfair... A guy plays a clown once and that's it, eh, can't play anything else eh ? Well that's just typical... * But Rowan Atkinson as the bursar... ohhhhh yes ! *irony inside.
I'm sorry, I don't honestly know what role you are talking about. I have honestly never seen him as a clown. And as for Brian Blessed, I think he would make a great Senior Wrangler so I added him in. ________ Colorado Marijuana Dispensaries
Tim Curry has had many a role where he was totally unrecognizable, he was the big red horny* devil in Legend (the one with baby Tom Cruise in it) and he was the evil clown in Stephen King's It. *a devil with big red horns.
Oh okay. I don't tend to watch horror films so I wouldn't know that. But wow, what a coincidence ________ Live sex webshows
I don't recognize most of those names on silvermoth's list, since I watch very little television and even fewer films, but of the ones I recognize I would first make one switch - Jim Broadbent as Colon and Richard Griffiths as the Dean. I still feel that the only possible person who could do the Ridcully brothers has to be Brian Blessed doubling up (and the Senior Wrangler is referred to as looking like a horse which could not apply to Brian Blessed) - in the same way, although Dame Maggie could do Granny W, Stephanie Cole could play both Granny and Lilith - remember, they have to be difficult to tell apart at close range. Agnes Nitt - how about Dawn French? Death - John Cleese Pessimal - Bill Nighy Having checked back on much earlier postings, I find that as happens on these intermittent threads that I seem to be both repeating myself and contradicting myself - end of message!
just a few ideas Cheri: John Rhys-Davies Detritus: Michael Clarke Duncan Archchancellor Ridicully: John Goodman Nobby: John Leguizamo Willikins: Vinnie Jones Bursar: Brent Spiner if I think of any more i'll post em
Yes, but she's also a dwarf. You can't tell the difference between male and female dwarfs except when ones like cheri wear skirts and lipstick. Picture gimli from the LOTR movies in a leather skirt with lipstick on and you've got cheri.
Yes, but still, John Rhys-Davies - however great an actor he may be - can't play ALL the dwarves of discworld... I actually know the perfect woman to play Cheri, and beard and costume set apart, you wouldn't need any special effects.
