    Hello!
I used to be on the old board but since it went full of trollz etc I stopped posting and I have just found this board and I think it is fantastic!!!

My nickname is Blue named after my goregeous dog whom I love dearly, I've typed it twice because... well I don't know the computer just seemed to think it was a good idea *sigh*.
I am female and taking my GCSEs in 1 week (ARGH) and lastly and most important I am obsessed with anything and everything about Discworld though I do have some very strong objections to 'Where's My Cow' (I just don't like it and never will).

I think that it is awful to even suggest having a Discworld book made into a film. They are just too precious and unique scripting them would border only being sacraligous (sp?).

Anyway I first became involved in TP about 5 years ago when I stumbled into a small bookshop in the back of beyond somewhere. Having failed to find any Tolkein the bookkeeper pointed me too some pratchett and well I've never looked back.

My quote of the day is 'Be happy' because it has served me well so far and I am not about to change it.

    See ya!

QuothTheRaven. Ditto and cool name :cooler:

So now what? The game threads look interesting but I have no idea what it's all about or if you need specific experience to play. Any advice?

Also, can anyone tell me if there is real-time chat available with other Pratchett fans?

There is a live chat on the front page, at the top right click where it says 'chat now' and you get automatically logged into the chat. There isn't often anyone in there though, usually because no one is in there... :)

There have been quite a few lively chats in there though, usually whenever someone has gone in there and waited for someone to show up - or when a chat has been pre-arranged.

    Hello everybody!
Umm, well, I'm a total newbie here and am still finding out how things work.
First of all: Can't see my screenname in the preview. It's peggster. Anyways.
I love this site! Really do. Don't know why it took me so long to have the idea to look up a site like this. I was looking for an audio book of T. P. for a friend of mine (he's got dyslexia), to introduce him to the discworld. Didn't find what I was looking for but I ended up here, so I guess that's okay.

I'll just answer the questions at the top of this thread now.

    1) My screenname is motivated by an old friend of mine. Him and I used to be somewhat like Al and Peggy Bundy (believe me, he's totally Al's doppelgaenger!) at our working place. I don't really look like Peg, but we just seemed so... funny together to everybody else, I guess, I don't know. And the -ster is due to a game we used to play, or actually, to the guys we used to play it with.

    2) I guess that's answered by now. Female, what else...
    Oh, and lovin' it!

    3) I'm 33 at the moment and I hail from a very small place in Germany, called Nehmten.

    4) Nope. Don't even dare to think of that. CAN'T even imagine a "real" discworld movie. I prefer the people the way I have them pictured in my head. That's the reason I refuse to watch any of the "LOTR"-stuff.

    5) Oh boy. Years ago I walked into a bookshop, looking for anything interesting. Something stopped me in front of Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods", and that was it. Been addicted ever since. (It was the British cover design, by the way. And those are the ones I kept/keep buying. - If possible.)

    6) Don't think I have that. If at all it would be changing every day anyway, and I don't feel like trying to keep up. ;-)

Well, I haven't read too deep into the thread, so I don't know if there're any more questions.
But wouldn't it be more comfortable if the newest answers/post were on page one?

Just me asking a question, having no clue how to do a page like this. Love the games, though!

    Greetings to everyone,
    bye, Stefanie

P.S.: Wow, just noticed that unintentionally I've used HTML, didn't even know I knew how to do that. But luckily the computers are smarter than me (I? - Sorry, am German after all.)

P.P.S.: Next post won't be this long. Promise!

I suppose since I don't know whats gone on since, and probably forgotton by all, may as well pretend I'm a newbit..
    Hello!

    1) I just randomly thought of it, no real reason.. I also do not look/smell/talk like a moose, either.

    2) Definatly male..

    3) Old teenager/young adult, in the Midlands, England.

    4) Ah-hah, didn't know the answer to this ages ago and still don't... But probably, it could be done

    5) A friend, years ago now, but I have now read more than him! (I think all of them)

    6) How many days 'til Christmas?

Well, thats that side sorted out.. I'll hopefully stick around for longer this time!
Btw I did notice that my tripod guest comic was put up.. yay that! Is it still going? I really need to catch up

    1) what formed the motivational impetus for your chosen screenname?

She's an oft unappreciated character who rarely gets a mention, I thought I'd give the old duck a whirl.

    2) Are you male or female? (Asking because there has been quite of lot of confusion over this, on and off.)

    Female!

    3) what age catagory and geographic location do you fall into?

29, moving to Leeds next week to be with my boyfriend (awwww, how sweet!)

    4) do you have good faith that a discworld movie COULD be done well enough not to suck? (note, this in no way shape or form asks about casting choices you'd like to see. i have a loaded rifle and i'm not afraid to use it.)

In my mind, if I directed them, of course!

    5) who or how were you turned on to discworld/pratchett?

I was browsing in WH Smiths at the tender age of about 9 or 10 and the colourful cover caught my eye...

    6) what's your personal quote of the day?

    Must try harder.

Hey urquhartfay (Had to copy that... not an easy name..)

    Welcome back.

    As for your signature:
    1) The color doesn't change because you are using HTML brackets instead of square brackets.

    It should be:
    Code:

    [color=green]text[/color]

    2) Pictures aren't allowed in signatures, you're going to have to make due with the Avatar.

    5) who or how were you turned on to discworld/pratchett?

Lookit me! I'm new and this is my first post!

    1) what formed the motivational impetus for your chosen screenname?
Someone suggested the username Nocturnal Emissions for another message board, since I stay up late and spout random things, as well as it being a reference to bodily functions. It's pretty cumbersome, though, so I tell people just to refer to me as Nox.

    2) Are you male or female? (Asking because there has been quite of lot of confusion over this, on and off.)

    Male

    3) what age catagory and geographic location do you fall into?

    13, Melbourne.

    Not really, but I'm hoping.

    5) who or how were you turned on to discworld/pratchett?
Big sister's bookshelf. When I was a young'un (still am) that was a goldmine of fantasy books.

    6) what's your personal quote of the day?

    Greetings, everyone :)

    1) what formed the motivational impetus for your chosen screenname?
Well because I'm a dancer and that song represents pretty much the best dancing there is...and it's a snappy phrase

    2) Are you male or female? (Asking because there has been quite of lot of confusion over this, on and off.) female

    3) what age catagory and geographic location do you fall into?
    18, eastern pennsylvania

    4) do you have good faith that a discworld movie COULD be done well enough not to suck? (note, this in no way shape or form asks about casting choices you'd like to see. i have a loaded rifle and i'm not afraid to use it.)

*eyes the rifle* Well it depends. I think that there are two ways of turning a book into a movie, that is, trying to capture a) the plot of the book (the Harry Potter movies) or b) the character of the book (hitchhiker's guide movies). I think a) would not be funny and b) would make people mad because they'd have to make the movie very different from the book.

    5) who or how were you turned on to discworld/pratchett?
Random bookstore browsing. A favored hobby of mine.

    6) what's your personal quote of the day?
    "I'm an atheist Irish Catholic."

Edit: I bolded (boldified?) the first question and failed to do so for any of the following questions. Silly me.
